La Puerta de Jerez fue una de las 13 puertas (y 5 postigos) que formaban parte de la antigua muralla de Sevilla, construida por los romanos y ampliada, reconstruida y fortalecida en diferentes ocasiones durante la etapa islámica.Cuando en el siglo XIX desapareció la fortificación, el espacio que ocupaba la Puerta de Jerez se transformó en una plaza que hoy es el arranque del centro.
